  1. Matt, like Sheila suggested, I think it would be a good exercise to figure out what the girl looks like without the armor, then put the armor on over her. If it's magic armor, what body type does the magic transform her into, and why? If she turns into a sticklike creature, what's the reason for that?

I like the eraserlike head, because it preserves her anonymity and hides her gender without entirely sacrificing expression. Her poses will tell a lot -- kind of like the magic carpet in Aladdin, who's faceless but very expressive.

It's a great turnaround, and you may want to keep it for a different character if you decide to do something different with the girl.

  2. Ok, so the magic armor transforms her so that she looks like a man. But, since this style of armor is already bulky, rigid, and ignorant of the human form, wouldn't a normal set of armor technically accomplish the same job? You still wouldn't be able to tell that she was female, because you still couldn't see her figure.

Also, if she had to prove she WAS a man, she would probably be forced to take her armor off, and then she would just be female again.

If I remember correctly, you originally had her wearing a magic necklace or ring instead. I think that might work better. That way you could show her transform from a man into a woman, or vice versa. That could look pretty cool.

  3. Good comments. I would love to see you workshop these ideas a bit.
